3-unit chain readies ad celebrating a home-run king named Aaron

BOULDER Colo. When Barry Bonds of the San Francisco Giants hits his 755th home run to tie Hank Aaron’s record, the three-unit Hapa Sushi chain plans to run a full-page congratulatory ad — honoring Hank Aaron.

The ad reads, “Congratulations Hank Aaron on 755 Home Runs.” The Hapa Sushi logo appears at the bottom of the ad with another line of copy: “Organic Beef and Chicken, No Added Steroids.”

The ad, created by TDA Advertising & Design of Boulder, will appear in Colorado daily and weekly newspapers the day after Bonds ties Aaron’s record. Bonds is one homer away from doing that. The Giants begin a series against the Los Angeles Dodgers Tuesday night in Los Angeles.

“As a fan of baseball and good food, I am adamantly opposed to the use of steroids,” Hapa Sushi founder Mark Van Greck said in a statement.

Bonds’ pursuit of Aaron’s record has been clouded by allegations that Bonds has used performance-enhancing drugs to boost his strength.
