Bruegger's Bagels to be sold to Caribou Coffee

Bruegger’s tests new sandwiches with giveaway

Editor's note: This story has been updated to include online reservation dates.

Bruegger’s is the latest restaurant chain to use social media to give away free food — and, in this case, continue its test of new menu items.

Starting Sept. 8, Bruegger’s customers in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area are being offered a choice of two panini sandwiches if they reserve a time and place on Bruegger’s Facebook page. The sandwiches were tested as limited-time offerings this summer. Customers can reserve a date and time between Sept. 12 and Sept. 16. The Facebook post will be live until all the reservations are filled.

The customers will then be sent an email the following morning asking them to show up at a designated time with the printed email, or to present their mobile phone with the confirmation email to claim their free sandwich. Valid identification is required.

The Chicken Aioli Melt Panini is made with chicken breast, garlic aïoli, Cheddar cheese and greens, and sells for a suggested $6.79. The Turkey Artichoke and Mozz Panini has roasted turkey, artichoke pesto, mozzarella cheese and tomato, and sells for a suggested $6.99. Both are served on Bruegger’s new ciabatta bread.

Burlington, Vt.-based Bruegger’s has 298 units.
