News

NASHVILLE Tenn. Quick-service seafood restaurant operator and franchisor Captain D's Seafood, based here, has begun a "phased rollout" of Envysion Inc.'s subscription video service for security and other reasons, according to the vendor.

"We chose Envysion Video because we believe it not only will help us increase our profitability, but will direct our attention to ways we can improve our customers' experience and deliver on the Captain D's brand promise," said Rusty Martin, director of information services for the 550-plus unit chain.

Agrowing number of restaurant chains are using video services to discourage employee theft of product and cash and prosecute criminals, protect themselves against fraudulent claims of injury by employees and guests and monitor staff work practices and interaction with guests.

Envysion of Louisville, Colo., is a Web-based service that provides operators of multi-unit businesses remote access to live and recorded video that can integrate with point-of-sale and other business systems for reporting and alerts purposes. It said its centrally hosted and scalable Managed Video as a Service platform supports extensive aggregation, storage and recall of video without taxing the information technology networks of clients.
