CARPINTERIA Calif. CKE Restaurants Inc. said Thursday it has promoted E. Michael Murphy, chief administrative officer and general counsel, to president and chief legal officer, effective Jan. 27.
Andrew Puzder, who previously held the role of president, will remain chief executive of the Carl's Jr. and Hardee's parent.
Murphy joined the company in 1998 as senior vice president and general counsel for Hardee’s Food Systems Inc. In 2000, he was named corporate counsel and executive vice president of franchising, and in 2006, he moved into the role of chief administrative officer.
In addition, CKE officials announced that Frank P. Willey has been named vice chairman of the board of directors, effective last month. Willey has been a board member since 1994.
CKE Restaurants operates, licenses or franchises 1,185 Carl’s Jr. and 1,912 Hardee’s restaurants in 42 states and 14 countries.
