Culver’s offers meals under $4

PRARIE DU SAC Wis. Quick service chain Culver’s ButterBurgers & Frozen Custard is offering eight meals, all including an entrée, French fries and a drink, for less than $4 at its more than 400 units through the end of the year.

The lower meal prices, ranging from $3.19 to $3.99 each, dip below the $5 mark that many restaurant chains, from Subway to T.G.I. Friday’s, have made prevalent during this recession. Some have treaded just above the popular $5 mark, like Arby’s recently debuted $5.01 meal deal, and others plunged below it, like Quiznos’ $4 Torpedo sandwich, which is a smaller-sized food item. At Culver’s, the meal deal is regular sized, the company said Tuesday.

“Our new Snack Pak meals make it easier for our guests to order and enjoy their favorite everyday menu items as part of a full meal,” said Culver’s vice president of marketing, David Stidham. “And we’re doing what’s right for our guests by including fries and drink for less than $4, which is more than a lot of our competitors can say during these tough economic times.”

Culver’s did not clarify what the meals would regularly cost without this deal.

The Culver entrée options include the chain’s signature ButterBurger, a ButterBurger with Cheese, a single deluxe ButterBurger, a Cheddar or Swiss ButterBurger, two chicken tenders, a bacon deluxe ButterBurger, a mushroom Swiss ButterBurger or a chili cheese dog.

Deluxe burgers contain lettuce, tomato, red onion, mayonnaise and cheese, as well as the beef patty and pickle that are in the original ButterBurger.
