Dunkin' Donuts debuts dollar menu in Chicago

CANTON Mass. Dunkin' Donuts introduced Monday a 99-cent value menu for a limited time in 500 Chicago stores.

The value menu will feature six breakfast items, including a sausage, egg and cheese wrap; a bacon, egg and cheese wrap; a raspberry Danish; hash browns; and a package of five Munchkin doughnut holes.

Dunkin' Donuts follows fast-food competitor McDonald's in introducing a breakfast value menu in the Chicago area. The burger giant introduced a dollar breakfast menu in August and, according to recent news reports, is planning to expand the morning value menu to other markets.

To promote its new value menu, Dunkin' Donuts distributed $40,000 in rechargeable gift cards throughout the Chicago area on Monday. Each card was preloaded with $2 and had no expiration date.

Dunkin' Donuts, a division of Canton-based Dunkin' Brands Inc., has more than 8,800 restaurants worldwide.
