El Pollo Loco unveils Family Stimulus Plan

COSTA MESA Calif. Looking to lure economy-weary consumers, El Pollo Loco on Sunday launched a new Family Stimulus Plan offering deep discounts on three meal options for a limited time.

As part of the plan, most of El Pollo Loco’s more than 400 quick-service locations are offering a six-piece leg-and-thigh meal for $4.99, about half of the typical price. The chain’s half-pound Classic Chicken Burrito is available for $1.99, a price about 46-percent lower than usual. And the Taco al Carbon is available for 69 cents, a price about 31 percent off the regular one.

Officials for the Costa Mesa, Calif.-based company said it was the deepest discount the chain has offered on such items. Available at most stores through May 29, the promotion will be supported by politically themed television ads featuring Steve Carley, president of El Pollo Loco, representing the “Dinner Party,” which aims to offer families “real savings on real food.”

In addition, El Pollo Loco will offer coupons for other deals, such as a free Grilled Chicken Tortilla Roll with the purchase of another, in newspaper inserts in most markets in the 14 states where the chain operates.
