Fleming’s helps patrons get a second meal, wine list access

NEWPORT BEACH Calif. Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar is connecting with its customers outside the restaurant with two new online initiatives, including a website that helps patrons stretch their meals.

The 57-unit chain introduced LeftoverSteakRecipes.com to give diners ideas on what to do with their doggie bags. According to a report in the Boston Herald, diners who take their leftovers home will find a note directing them to the new website, which features tips and recipes from Fleming's executive chef, Russell Skall.

Skall teaches users how to reheat and slice their steak for use in such recipes as Steak and Eggs Benedict and Smoked Steak Quesadillas.

The steakhouse chain also has debuted a mobile website, m.flemings100.com, that allows users of handheld devices to access its Fleming's 100 list of wines by the glass. The wines are separated by varietal and listed from lightest to fullest. For each wine, the site gives a description and a picture of its label to help customers find the wine outside the restaurant.

"Our wine program is at the core of our dining experience, and m.flemings100.com gives wine lovers detailed information on the Fleming's 100 from the convenience of their mobile phone," says Marian Jansen op de Haar, Fleming's director of wine. "Now no matter where our guests are traveling they will be able to find the perfect bottle of wine quickly and easily."

Fleming's, based here, is a division of Tampa, Fla.-based OSI Restaurant Partners LLC.
