Food Flash: Top flavors for chicken

Barbecue ranks high on both QSR and full-service menus

With more restaurant chains focusing their attention on chicken, Technomic examined which flavors are seen the most on menus.

“Barbecue” is the top descriptor in quick-service restaurants, but “garlic” topped the list at full-service restaurants, according to Technomic’s MenuMonitor of the top 500 chains.

Garlic is also popular in QSRs, ranking second in Technomic’s list. Other top flavors for chicken in that segment include teriyaki and lemon.

With in the full-service segment, garlic was followed by onion, barbecue and honey as the most common flavors for chicken dishes, Technomic found.
