Former winners have included Nate Appleman, Thomas Keller, Daniel Boulud and Tom Colicchio.

- John Shields of Town House in Chilhowie, Va.
- Jason Stratton of Spinasse in Seattle
- James Syhabout of Commis in Oakland, Calif.
