Good Times boasts summer same-store sales surge

GOLDEN Colo. Good Times Restaurants Inc., parent of the 54-unit Good Times Burgers & Frozen Custard chain, said July and August same-store sales each increased 13.8 percent from the same months of last year, driven by the success of its new Bambino burgers, or sliders.

Guest traffic was up about 8 percent during those months, as menu prices increased about 5 percent over the year earlier, according to company president and chief executive Boyd Hoback. The company said that so far this year it has taken three menu price increases, totaling about 8 percent, to offset commodity and labor cost increases.

Traffic and sales were driven by the May introduction of a value-centric Bambino burgers. The sliders are sold individually for 75 cents, in a three-pack for $2.25 or in a five-pack for $3.75.
