KFC ties in with ‘Earl’ premiere with sweepstakes

LOUISVILLE Ky. KFC is promoting its line of Famous Bowls with a sweepstakes and a “What Wrong Would You Right” contest tied to the Sept. 27 premiere of “My Name is Earl” on NBC.

Consumers can enter the sweepstakes by visiting the KFC website and entering a secret code or by text messaging the code to a special number. The code is obtained from promotional materials within units of the chicken chain. The grand prize is $25,000.

The other contest is based on the plot of the show, in which the main character, Earl, decides to right the wrongs of his past after winning $100,000 in the lottery. Consumers can submit brief descriptions of the wrongs in their own lives they’d like to make right to be eligible for $100 KFC gift checks.

KFC, a division of Louisville-based Yum! Brands Inc., has more than 14,000 units worldwide. The chain’s Famous Bowls come in three varieties: a Rice Bowl, a Chicken and Biscuit Bowl and a Mashed Potato Bowl.
