LOUISVILLE Ky. Long John Silver's is discounting its new Freshside Grille line of grilled seafood dishes next Tuesday.
Declaring Mardi Gras to be "Skinny Tuesday," Long John Silver's said it would sell Freshside Grille plated meals for $3.50, which compares to the regular price of $4.99. The seafood chain's promotion comes right before the beginning of Lent, when many households abstain from eating meat on Fridays.
The Freshside Grille meals, which each contain fewer than 350 calories and 7 grams of fat, feature seasoned rice, a steamed vegetable medley and a choice of Grilled Pacific Salmon in a red bell pepper sauce, Grilled Tilapia in a garlic and herb sauce, or Shrimp Scampi in a garlic butter sauce.
The 1,100-unit Long John Silver's, which is known for its fried fish, introduced the Freshside Grille line last fall as part of parent company Yum! Brands Inc.'s efforts to add more healthful choices to the menus at its various chains.
