Panera posts 28% revenue gain

ST. LOUIS The opening of 39 bakery-cafes and an uptick in same-store sales contributed to a 28 percent gain in second-quarter revenues for Panera Bread Co., operator or franchisor of more than 1,030 fast-casual restaurants. The company said revenues for the 13 weeks ended June 26 totaled $253 million, compared with the $197 million posted for the same period of fiscal 2006.
