Pizza Hut offers $10 pizzas

DALLAS Pizza Hut began a promotion this week that offers any pizza, except its stuffed crust version, with any toppings for a flat $10.

The limited-time offer allows customers to order a stuffed-crust pizza for a dollar more. No coupons are required. A company spokeswoman said the deal is a steal, compared with some of the chain’s pizzas that might ordinarily run as high as $20 each, with a large Meat Lovers pizza starting at $17.99 with no additional toppings, for example.

“We are excited to kick off 2010 with a delicious value for our customers,” said Scott Bergren, Pizza Hut’s president and chief concept officer.

Restaurant brands from the largest of chains to one-unit operations have spent most of 2009 finding ways to offer value to customers seeking to spend more wisely during this economic downturn. Most observers say not much will change in 2010, as consumers continue to act frugally, and more than ever seek brands that attempt to offer them more for their dollar.

Pizza Hut’s 10-buck deal is for any size pizza and any of a dozen toppings for the pan pizza, hand-tossed style, Thin ‘N Crispy, vegetarian and supreme.

Pizza Hut did not say when the promotion would end.

Pizza Hut is a division of Yum! Brands Inc. of Louisville, Ky., which operates or franchises more than 10,000 restaurants under five brands.
