Ponderosa, Bonanza add platters

PLANO Texas The Ponderosa and Bonanza steakhouse chains have added entrée platters to their menus, giving customers the option of a portion-controlled meal at concepts typically known for their All-You-Can-Eat buffets.

The new entree platters include a steak, seafood or chicken entree with a garden salad, hot vegetable, choice of potato and fresh-baked rolls. In addition, the steakhouses are featuring a new 1/2 pound U.S.D.A. Choice Sirloin as an entree platter for $7.99. Guests also have the option of ordering all entrees with the buffet for "slightly more," according to promotional materials.

ATV and print advertising campaign will run through June 25 to support the new menu additions. More than 150 Ponderosa and Bonanza steakhouses are offering the entree platter menu.

"The entree platters have already received an overwhelming reception, and we expect all 308 of our restaurants to offer them by the end of the year," said Steve Welsh, vice president of marketing for Ponderosa and Bonanza.

The Ponderosa and Bonanza chains are franchised by Metromedia Restaurant Group, which is based here. MRG is also the parent of Bennigan's, Steak and Ale and The Plano Tavern.
