Qdoba tests whole wheat tortillas

Traditional flour tortillas also upgraded

Being a big believer in stealth nutrition (do we really have to know it’s better for us?), it is good to hear that Qdoba Mexican Grill is testing whole wheat tortillas in the Seattle and Portland, Ore., areas.

Company officials say the new tortillas are lower in calories and fat, and offer more fiber and a host of nutrients than the traditional option.

The chain’s traditional flour tortilla has already been replaced with a version lower in fat and calories and higher in fiber as well. And we didn’t even notice!

Qdoba is not alone in its move toward the use of more whole grains.

Chipotle Mexican Grill is slowly upping the amount of whole wheat flour used in tortillas, and the chain is also rolling out the option for guests of brown rice, which has so far been very popular.
