Seattle’s Best Coffee names new VP

SEATTLE Seattle’s Best Coffee announced Thursday the appointment of John Wuycheck to the newly created position of vice president of franchise business development.

The move follows the recent appointment of Michelle Gass as president of Seattle’s Best Coffee, a secondary brand owned by Starbucks Corp. Earlier this year, Starbucks announced plans to expand franchising of Seattle’s Best, a 550-unit chain that had grown primarily through licensing in Border’s bookstores across the country.

Wuycheck comes to Seattle’s Best Coffee from KLMM’s Hydration Technologies, where he was vice president of sales. Previously, Wuycheck was vice president of development for Kahala Franchise Corp., franchisor to the Cold Stone Creamery, Blimpie, Taco Time and nine other brands.

Like Starbucks, Seattle’s Best Coffee also has a retail division for branded products sold in supermarkets nationwide and at an estimated 15,000 foodservice locations, such as college campuses, restaurants, hotels and airlines. Both Starbucks and Seattle’s Best Coffee are based in Seattle.
