WEST DES MOINES Iowa Westec InterActive Inc., based here, a firm that uses video technology to monitor remote sites for security and other purposes on behalf of business clients, including foodservice operators such as El Pollo Loco Inc., has acquired Coppell, Texas-based Digital Witness LLC, another provider of such subscription-based services.
Gerald Vento, Westec's chief executive, said the business of monitoring remote sites across Internet Protocol data networks is growing five times faster than the security industry as a whole. The acquisition of Digital Witness, which also serves the foodservice market, among others, will increase Westec's concentration in major markets and help it provide better customer service, Vento added.
