Smoothie King brews up coffee-based drinks

NEW ORLEANS Smoothie King has added six coffee-based smoothies to its menu and said it would promote the new drinks with a morning giveaway next week.

The new line features three coffee smoothies and three Mo'cuccino smoothies, each available in caramel, mocha or vanilla flavors. The coffee smoothies are made with coffee, nonfat milk, a protein blend and turbinado sugar. The Mo'cuccinos, which the company described as an "indulgent treat," are made with coffee, ice cream, a protein blend and turbinado. Like many of the chain's smoothies, the new coffee drinks can be ordered "skinny" without the turbinado.

To showcase the new drinks, Smoothie King will offer free 20-ounce coffee smoothies to customers who come in to any of its 550 stores before 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 18.

Smoothie King Franchises Inc. is based here.
