Stewart's parent adds Chock full o'Nuts to roster

MILLER PLACE N.Y. Rockelle Corp., the operator of Stewart's Original Root Beer and other quick-service brands, has acquired the rights to develop and license Chock full o'Nuts locations in the United States. The deal was signed with Segafredo Zanetti Coffee Group of Bologna, Italy, which purchased the Chock full o'Nuts brand from Sara Lee Corp. in December 2005.

Rockelle's founder and chief executive Gerald Stephan said the broker agreement will enable the company to open and operate Chock full o'Nuts outlets as well as license the concept to others. In addition, Rockelle will be entitled to receive residual income from retail sales of the brand's coffee at each location it brokers.

Rockelle, which purchased the 50-unit Stewart's chain from Frosted Mug Holdings LLC earlier this year, also operates such concepts as Blimpie and Surf City Squeeze. Rockelle earlier said it plans to merchandise Stewart's products in supermarkets around the country.
