Subway offers online, text ordering in NYC

NEW YORK Subway has partnered with online menu platform Go Mobo to allow customers at participating New York stores to place their food orders online or via text message.

On the website www.subwaynow.com, customers enter their ZIP codes to find the nearest restaurant, place their orders, pay online and then pick up their sandwiches without having to wait in line. Users can save payment information and favorite orders, as well as link up their cell phones to enable ordering via text messaging.

Daily soups and other special items that change regularly are not yet available for online ordering, according to the website, which listed 89 participating Subway restaurants in New York.

The website features promotions, such as offering customers a free $5 footlong sub if they pay for their first order with an American Express card.

In 2008, Subway teamed up with Universal Delivery Solutions to test to-go delivery service through a call-center by using a toll-free telephone number. It was tested in select cities around the country.

Subway, which is based in Milford, Conn., has more than 30,000 locations in 87 countries worldwide.
