Fiesta Restaurant Group Inc.’s net income for the second quarter ended June 29 rose 87.4 percent on an increase in same-store sales at its Pollo Tropical and Taco Cabana brands, the company reported Tuesday.

The Addison, Texas-based fast-casual operator said while sales rose at both concepts, traffic rose 5.6 percent at Pollo Tropical and slipped 0.2 percent at Taco Cabana.

Fiesta opened six new Pollo Tropical restaurants and its first company-owned Cabana Grill in the second quarter, which, unlike Taco Cabana locations, is not open 24 hours.

As of June 29, Fiesta owned and operated 112 Pollo Tropical restaurants and 166 Taco Cabana restaurants. It also franchises 35 Pollo Tropical restaurants in the United States, Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, Trinidad and Tobago, and Venezuela. It franchises seven Taco Cabana restaurants domestically.
