Noodles & Company’s net income rose 54 percent during the first quarter ended April 1, although winter storms and freezing temperatures dampened same-store sales.

The company opened 14 restaurants during the quarter and is sticking with its plan to add 42 to 50 company-owned locations before year’s end. Franchisees are expected to open another 10 to 15 units. The Broomfield, Colo.-based fast-casual operator finished the quarter with 394 locations in 30 states and the District of Columbia.

Result: $89.5 million
% Increase: 10% (from $81.3 million)
