Texas Roadhouse 2Q net income rises 17%

Revenue and unit growth, traffic gains propel casual-dining operator

Texas Roadhouse Inc. turned in a solid performance for the second quarter ended July 1.

The company reported double-digit revenue growth, led by strong operating growth and positive same-store sales built on firm traffic growth through July.

The company opened six new restaurants during the period, including its first unit in Alaska. Texas Roadhouse has opened 14 units this year and plans on adding another 11 locations by year’s end.

At the end of the second quarter, the Louisville, Ky.-based company had 433 restaurants in 49 states and three foreign countries.
 

2Q NET INCOME

Result: $23.1 million, or 33 cents a share
% Increase: 17% (from $19.9 million, or 28 cents per share)

2Q REVENUE

Result: $395.4 million
% Increase: 12% (from $352.1 million)

2Q SAME-STORE SALES

% Increase corporate units: 2.9%


% Increase franchised units: 3.6%
