Aramark lands contract for Beijing Olympics

PHILADELPHIA Foodservice contractor Aramark Corp. has been named official caterer of the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, China.

Under the terms of the contract, Aramark will provide foodservices for athletes, media housing, the international broadcasting center and the main press center of the Beijing Games. The deal also calls for Aramark to provide the same services for the Paralympic Games, also to be held in Beijing. The two sporting events are held consecutively during a two-month stretch in which Aramark is expected to serve up some 3.5 million meals.

In addition, Aramark is responsible for the design and construction of the kitchen and dining facilities of both events.

The contract marks the 14th time Aramark has been chosen to handle the foodservice for the Olympics.

“We are honored to have been selected once again to serve during the world’s largest sporting event,” said Joseph Neubauer, Aramark’s chairman and chief executive. “Our people are dedicated to delivering a world-class experience.”
