Available this holiday season: BK pajamas

MIAMI Burger King Corp. said its King icon will start appearing on pajamas, lottery tickets, T-shirts and other merchandise as a result of several new licensing deals.

The T-shirts, produced with an image of the chain’s wooden-faced namesake under a deal with clothing manufacturer Mad Engine, will be in department stores by the Christmas shopping season, the restaurant company said.

Under a separate deal with Exquisite Apparel, sleepwear and “loungewear” depicting the King mascot will be shipped to mass merchandisers by the spring, BKC said.

The company said it also granted permission for governments to use the King’s image on instant lottery tickets.

The deals were brokered by Broad Street Licensing Group, BKC said. They follow arrangements whereby Burger King’s trademarks are appearing on snack chips and greeting cards.

“Through our licensees, Burger King branded apparel and snack products provide our customers with new ways to interact and connect with the brand,” said Russ Klein, president of global marketing and strategy for BKC.

The company, based here, operates or franchises 11,600 quick-service restaurants in 74 countries.
