Burger King names U.S. company store POS provider

News

MIAMI Burger King Corp., based here, for its approximately 800 U.S. company operated stores has selected from Micros Systems Inc. the RES 4.0 point-of-sale-system platform and the enterprise management software or services needed to control restaurant-level databases for POS and back-office applications.

Raj Rawal, Burger King Corp. senior vice president and chief information officer, said his company standardized around the Micros POS system, in part, because the vendor's "service and support capabilities" are "key differentiators" in the technology marketplace. "We are impressed with the functionality of RES 4.0, as well as Micros's ability to quickly assimilate and integrate to our specific operational environment."

Representatives of Columbia, Md.-based Micros said the rollout to domestic Burger King Corp. restaurants is to begin this summer at 50 units in the Atlanta market and continue nationwide throughout the next two years. They said that in addition to choosing the Micros POS system and enterprise applications, Burger King Corp. is paying the company to install and train employees in the use of the technology and, in the future, plans to use the vendor's help desk and hardware services.
