Harpers upgrades POS, rolls latest version into new concept

News

CHARLOTTE N.C. Eleven-unit Harpers Restaurants Inc. based here, with five Harpers casual dining locations and fine dining concepts including Zink American Kitchen, has upgraded its Hospitality Solutions International Profit Series point-of-sale software to version 7.06, the latest.

The Charlotte operator also is using that HSI technology in its new modern Mediterranean cuisine endeavor, M5, opening in May, according to sources at Scottsdale, Ariz.-based HSI, a division of Micros Systems Inc. The upgrade positions Harpers to deploy a back-office application from an HSI business partner and provides the restaurant company with support for the latest Payment Card Industry security standards, among other benefits, HSI representatives added.

Henry Marin, Harpers' director of information systems, said, "HSI's reliability and ease of use have proven that an excellent POS [system] is an important factor in the success of our restaurants." He noted that the HSI software is flexible in that it can handle the POS and other data duties at his company's assorted concepts, ranging from counter-service to white tablecloth businesses.
