Wendy's names Fitzsimmons CFO

DUBLIN Ohio Wendy's International Inc. has named longtime industry veteran and former Wal-Mart Stores Inc. treasurer Jay Fitzsimmons as its new chief financial officer and executive vice president.

Fitzsimmons is serving as a member of the quick-service giant's strategic planning committee in addition to overseeing such traditional CFO functions as accounting, finance, taxation and information technology, Wendy's said. He reports to chief executive and president Kerrii Anderson, whom he succeeds as CFO. Anderson surrendered that post to serve as interim CEO for several months before being named to her current job on a permanent basis.

Fitzsimmons, who earned his masters from the University of Chicago, joins Wendy's from Wal-Mart, where he served for 12 years as treasurer and senior vice president. Wendy's noted that Wal-Mart's revenues grew from $64 billion to more than $350 billion annually during his tenure.

Earlier, Fitzsimmons served in a financial capacity at National Pizza Co., Pizza Hut's largest franchisee, and in similar roles for the Sea Galley and Flakey Jake's quick-service chains.

Wendy's, based here, operates or franchises some 6,600 namesake restaurants worldwide.
