McDonald’s, Carl’s Jr., Hardee’s, Sonic Drive-In, IHOP, Dairy Queen, Boston Market, Cousins Subs, Del Taco and Wienerschnitzel also introduce new menu items.
Subway has introduced a new Fritos Chicken Enchilada Melt with corn chips on it. The sandwich has pulled chicken in enchilada sauce on a choice of bread. The item is priced at around $5 for a six-inch sub or $7.50 for a Footlong, depending on the location. The sandwich is available for an unspecified limited time.
McDonald’s newest McCafé Frappé is Chocolate Covered Strawberry, available through March 23. The beverage combines chocolate chips, strawberry flavor and mocha, topped with whipped cream and a strawberry drizzle.
The chain also has brought back its seasonal Shamrock Shake through April 15, or while supplies last. The mint-flavored shake is made with reduced-fat ice cream and proprietary syrup, topped with whipped cream and a maraschino cherry. Prices vary by location.
Jack in the Box has introduced The Bacon Insider, a burger featuring a beef patty with bacon pieces mixed in, topped with six half-slices of hickory-smoked bacon, bacon mayo sauce, lettuce, tomato and American cheese, served on a brioche bun. The sandwich, priced at a suggested $4.99, was introduced in advance of the Super Bowl, and will be offered for about two months.
The 2,250-unit chain also has introduced two new flavors of its extra-large Monster Tacos, which rolled out in October. The Bacon Ranch Monster Taco has spiced ground beef, American cheese, shredded lettuce and taco sauce, topped with ranch sauce and bacon, and the Nacho Monster Taco has nacho cheese sauce and jalapeños. Each taco has a suggested retail price of $1.69.
Sister chains Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s are offering a Snickerdoodle Ice Cream Sandwich for an unspecified limited time at participating restaurants in their more than 2,800-unit domestic systems.
The item is made with a scoop of vanilla ice cream between two soft cinnamon-sugar cookies. The dessert, priced at $1.49, is also available for free with the purchase of a Philly Cheesesteak combo.
The rollout follows offerings of ice cream sandwiches made with Oreo cookies, chocolate chip cookies and strawberry Pop-Tarts.
Sonic Drive-In has brought back its Original Pretzel Dog and introduced a new Chili Cheese Pretzel Dog, topped with chili and melted cheese, for a suggested price of $2.69. The Original Pretzel Dog, introduced in July, is topped with mustard and priced at $1.99. The Cheesy Bacon Pretzel Dog, also introduced in July, is topped with bacon, grilled onions and cheese sauce, and priced at $2.69.
Sonic also has introduced a new Red Velvet Molten Cake Sundae dessert. The item features molten red velvet cake on cheesecake topped with ice cream, priced at an average $4.49. The dessert and the pretzel dogs are available through Feb. 23.
IHOP has introduced a new line of Sweet Cream Cheese Crepes, available through April 6 at its more than 1,500 locations. The three varieties — Blackberry, Raspberry and Peach — are all filled with sweetened cream cheese and topped with fruit. Prices vary by market.
Dairy Queen is featuring Red Velvet Cake as its Blizzard of the Month for February at its 6,400 locations. It combines red velvet cake pieces and cream cheese frosting with vanilla soft-serve ice cream.
