Fazoli's new prototype, pictured here in its headquarters city of Lexington, Ky., is the basis for remodels at all 125 company-owned stores and in some franchise markets.
More vibrant photography was used to make the prototypes "lighter and brighter," CEO Carl Howard said.
Lighting, seating and other decor elements were deployed to give a more contemporary feel to Fazoli's remodeled locations and accompany fast-casual-like service upgrades.
Fazoli's "Expand Your Taste" menu includes "piada" sandwiches, as items featuring new flavors or as a new application for the Submarino sandwich line.
The new menu also includes several chopped salads meant to bolster lunch sales.
Fazoli's upgraded its breadsticks and introduced new snack items like baked ravioli and pizza sticks, in order to build the average check through add-ons.
