Subway has added two sandwiches to its Fiery Footlong Collection that showcase the chain’s new creamy Sriracha sauce.
The Sriracha Chicken Melt and Sriracha Steak Melt combine grilled chicken or steak with pepper Jack cheese, creamy Sriracha sauce, and a choice of vegetables and toppings. The Fiery Footlong Collection already includes a Buffalo Chicken sandwich and a Turkey Jalapeño Melt.
Guests can also order creamy Sriracha sauce on any other Subway sandwich, the company said.
“The intense blend of chile peppers is a fiery jolt of heat that will surely wake up your taste buds,” the brand’s executive, Chris Martone, said in a statement. “We developed a product that’s not shy on flavor and will add a whole new dimension to any of our fans favorite subs, including breakfast sandwiches.”
Recent research from menu tracking firm Datassential found that Sriracha is the fastest-growing descriptor among more than 120 terms used to describe spicy food on American menus.
The Milford, Ct.-based chain also introduced a tie-in sweepstakes with new movie “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire,” which debuts in theaters Nov. 22. Players can enter the contest by finding activation codes on 30-ounce soft drink cups, bags of Lays Wavy Ranch chips, Subway’s official emails, and the brand’s Facebook and Twitter pages. Prizes include movie tickets, gift cards, free subs for one year or a “Victory Tour” vacation to Hawaii.
