Industry Data

The new Industry Data section on NRN.com houses restaurant stats and information covering industry sales and traffic, the annual Top 100 and Second 100 census on the largest restaurant brands, the exclusive Consumer Picks report and the new NRN Social 200 ranking of social media footprints.

The new Sales & Sentiment Tracker displays monthly data points on industry same-store sales, traffic and restuarant operator sentmiment from NRN partners Black Box Intelligence, MillerPulse and the National Restaurant Association. Used together the data offers the most robust outlook of restaurant industry performance. Monthly analysis can also be found here.

The NRN Top 100 report ranks the largest restaurant chains and parent companies based on U.S. sales, unit counts, growth, market shares and other metrics. The annual, industry-leading report has been used as a benchmarking tool for restaurants, suppliers, distributors and analysts to track restaurant brands, private-equity ownership and segment growth or decline. Now available online to subscribers, the U.S. Top 100 section will offer sortable lists covering the largest brands in foodservice.

Consumer Picks is an exclusive study completed in partnership with WD Partners to build a comprehensive study of customer attitudes covering 152 restaurants brands. The survey addresses 10 attributes — Atmosphere, Cleanliness, Craveability, Food Quality, Likelihood to Recommend, Likelihood to Return, Menu Variety, Reputation, Service and Value — to rank some of the largest, most popular restaurant chains. The analysis and insights into consumer behavior and preference makes Consumer Picks a valuable report for restaurant operators.

The new NRN Social 200 is a live look at the social media footprints of the nation’s largest restaurant chains. Built with TrackingSocial, the Social 200 index monitors restaurant brand efforts and customer engagement on the three largest social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. The index is updated daily, providing a near real-time look at social media activity in the restaurant industry.

This section will continue to expand to include NRN's newest data reports, such as the International Top 25, and a look at top growth markets throughout the United States.
