More on the Restaurant Performance Index: The index is a monthly composite that tracks the health of and outlook for the foodservice industry, comprised of two components — the Current Situation Index, which measures same-store sales, traffic, labor and capital expenditures; and the Expectations Index, which measures operators’ six-month outlook. Set with a baseline of 100, results above that level signify industry expansion, and below 100 imply industry contraction.
