Arby’s names Darla Morse CIO

Quick-service operator creates new C-level tech position

Arby’s Restaurant Group Inc. has named Darla Morse to the newly created position of chief information officer, effective April 18.

Morse previously was CIO of SeaWorld, supporting the company’s Orlando, Fla., headquarters and 12 parks.

In her new role, in which she reports directly to Arby’s CEO Paul Brown, she will be responsible for guiding technology initiatives for the Atlanta-based quick-service chain’s more the 3,200 units.

“Given the rapid evolution and increasingly important role of technology in our industry, I am looking forward to the expertise that Darla brings to our team,” Brown said in a press release. “She will guide the brand’s technology initiatives going forward with the objective of continuing to enhance the restaurant experience for our guests while driving operational efficiencies for our franchisees.”

At SeaWorld, Morse led the creation of a mobile app that, among other things, allowed visitors to pre-order food and pay with one-touch purchasing.

She has also worked in IT at Walt Disney World, where she was part of a team that developed a wristband that, among other features, allowed Disney to provide personalized offers to park and hotel guests.
