Jack in the Box Inc. has hired Lance Tucker as chief financial officer, the company said Tuesday.
Tucker, who will join San Diego, Calif.-based Jack in the Box on March 26, most recently served as chief financial officer for Louisville, Ky.- Papa John’s International Inc.
Tucker succeeds Jerry Rebel, who had served in the role since 2005. Rebel had announced his retirement in April, and he will work with Tucker through the transition, the company said.
“Lance brings a wealth of restaurant industry experience to our organization,” said Lenny Comma, Jack in the Box CEO and chairman, in a statement. “He has a proven history of driving results in several key strategic business functions, including finance, accounting and IT [information technology].”
Prior to joining Papa John’s in 2009, Tucker served six years as CFO at Evergreen Real Estate in Louisville.
“Jack in the Box is an outstanding brand,” Tucker said in prepared remarks, “and I'm grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such a strong management team to grow the brand in the years to come.”
Comma said Rebel helped Jack in the Box transform its business model, increasing its percentage of franchised units from 25 percent in 2005 to 88 percent currently.
Jack in the Box has more than 2,250 restaurants in 21 states and Guam. The company is in the process of selling its fast-casual Qdoba Restaurant Corp. to Apollo Global Management LLC in a $305 million deal.
