The ONE Group Hospitality Inc. has named former Batali & Bastianich Hospitality Group division president Alejandro Munoz-Suarez chief operating officer, effective March 31, the company said Wednesday.

Munoz-Suarez replaces John Inserra, who said he would step down from the COO role last year, although he remained to assist with the transition.

Previously president of B&B Hospitality’s Pacific division, Munoz-Suarez has spent 13 years growing the multiconcept group’s brands, overseeing 17 concepts including Del Posto in New York City; Pizzeria Mozza and Osteria Mozza in Los Angeles; and B&B Ristorante, B&B Burger & Beer and Carnevino in Las Vegas.

With ONE Group, Munoz-Suarez will manage the opening of several restaurants under construction or in development, including STK locations in Boston; Orlando, Fla.; San Diego; Denver; Miami; Austin, Texas; Dallas and Toronto, the company said.

“Alejandro’s lengthy tenure at B&B Hospitality provides a deep level of expertise in how to aggressively grow and scale a hospitality company, which will be instrumental in supporting the ambitious plans we have set through 2017,” said Jonathan Segal, The ONE Group CEO, in a statement. “We remain focused on expanding the STK brand both domestically and internationally, and we are thrilled to have such a seasoned hospitality veteran join The ONE Group.”

Based in New York, The ONE Group is parent to the high-end steakhouse brand STK, along with a newer concept called STK Rebel, with a similar menu but more accessible pricing.
