Slim Chickens names Mark Mears CMO

Mears joins fast-casual brand from Noodles & Company

Slim Chickens has named Mark Mears chief marketing officer, the fast-casual operator said Monday.

Mears is taking over marketing duties from Greg Smart, co-founder and chief brand officer of the Fayetteville, Ark.-based chain.

Mears was most recently CMO of Noodles & Company. Before that, he held the CMO role at Schlotzsky’s. He also has served as president and chief concept officer of Mimi’s Café and CMO and senior vice president of The Cheesecake Factory. Mears previously held marketing positions at Universal Studios Hollywood, Blimpie International and Pizza Hut.

A spokeswoman for Slim Chickens said Mears was “drawn to the brand’s unique culture founded upon its purpose-driven mission.”

Slim Chickens, with a menu that focuses on chicken tenders and wings, uses the tagline “Life-Changing Chicken,” and places a strong emphasis on giving back to the communities where it operates. The chain currently has 41 locations.
