The chain's New Adventures menu features lean proteins and vegetables
California Pizza Kitchen rolled out on Monday new menu additions, dubbed New Adventures, that tap into global flavors but keep calorie counts low.
The Los Angeles-based casual-dining chain is known for its pizza — particularly the top-selling barbecuepizza — but the chain has long offered a broad menu of non-pizza items. None of the new dishes involve pizza, and they all offer a strong nutrition profile with lean proteins and plenty of vegetables.
Brian Sullivan, CPK’s senior vice president of culinary development, said in a statement, “Our New Adventures menu offers what our discerning guests are looking for: A dish that’s full of bold flavors, yet nutritious and light.”
The five new dishes include:
Quinoa + Arugula Salad, a mix of arugula and the “superfood” quinoa with asparagus, sun-dried tomatoes, red onion, toasted pine nuts and feta cheese in a champagne vinaigrette, priced at $9.50. The dish is 610 calories.
Fire-Roasted Chile Relleno, a poblano pepper roasted, rather than fried, and stuffed with chicken, cheese, corn-and-black-bean salsa, wild mushrooms, spinach and eggplant and topped with house-made avocado salsa verde and cilantro, priced at $10.50. The dish is 380 calories.
Shrimp Scampi Zucchini Fettuccine, shrimp sautéed with lemon, garlic and white wine tossed with zucchini ribbons along with fettuccine to lighten the carbohydrate load. The dish is topped with parsley and Parmesan and priced at $14. The dish is 550 calories.
Grilled Chicken Chimichurri, marinated grilled chicken breast with pan-roasted vegetables and a “mildly spicy” house-made Argentinean chimichurri sauce for $15. The dish is 550 calories.
Cedar Plank Salmon, a filet of omega-rich salmon roasted on a cedar plank with smoked paprika and lime and served with white-corn-and-spinach succotash topped with feta, for $18. The dish is 640 calories.
California Pizza Kitchen has more than 250 locations across the U.S. and in 10 countries.
