Richard Sandoval Restaurants, or RSR, has appointed Alfonso Sumano to the position of executive vice president, the Denver-based multi-concept operator announced this week.

Sumano previously worked in destination and partnership marketing with the Mexico Tourism Board, where he was most recently a regional director for North America.

In what is a newly created position with RSR, Sumano will oversee the day-to-day operation of the growing restaurant group, ensuring that operating requirements and organizational objectives are met and in line with chef/owner Sandoval’s mission, the company said.

In addition, Sumano is responsible for new business development and supervising revenue generation, marketing, public relations and departmental performance.

Sandoval, who founded the company 17 years ago, said, “Alfonso and I share a passion for spreading Latin American cuisine and culture. His vast tourism and partnership marketing experience will be instrumental to guiding the growth of Richard Sandoval Restaurants.”

RSR operates 37 restaurants among 18 brands, with locations in Miami, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Nevada, New York, Virginia and Washington, D.C. Internationally, the company has restaurants in Mexico, Dubai, Qatar and Serbia.

Among Sandoval’s brands with multiple locations include Zengo; Maya; La Sandia; El Centro and Toro Toro.
