Seattle’s Best Coffee will add 15 new drive-thru-only locations this year in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, parent company Starbucks Corp. said Monday.
Seattle’s Best has been testing small-footprint drive thrus in Seattle and Chicago over the past year. Last year, Starbucks said it planned to expand 100-unit Seattle’s Best as a drive-thru brand to meet the needs of a growing number of customers who want coffee on the go.
“We believe that everyone deserves a great cup of coffee, even if they don’t have time to sit in a café,” said Frank Sica, vice president and general manager for Seattle’s Best.
The 600-square-foot drive-thru-only variant, which was tested in Seattle, offers “dashboard friendly” food, along with coffee and other drinks. The menu will include egg sandwiches, pretzel melts and sweet and savory “anytime pies.” The drive thrus also offer a value menu with combo meals for under $5.
Of the 15 units planned, 14 will be company operated and one will be franchised, Starbucks said.
The company says Dallas is the ideal market for the expansion because area residents eat out 70 percent more than the national average, according to surveys.
