El Pollo Loco Inc. has named former Taco Bell executive Kay Bogeajis chief operating officer, the company said Tuesday.
Bogeajis, who replaces Dennis Farrow in the COO role, was most recently vice president of retail operations for Peet’s Coffee & Tea, where she was responsible for $228 million in annual sales. Prior to that, she spent a decade at Taco Bell in various positions, including four years as head of western region operations.
Earlier in her career, Bogeajis spent 14 years with Burger King Corp.
As COO at El Pollo Loco, Bogeajis will be responsible for overseeing company and franchise restaurant operations, training and development.
“Kay is an industry veteran with an exceptional track record of exceeding business performance targets and delivering operations excellence,” said Steve Sather, El Pollo Loco’s president and chief executive. “We are thrilled to welcome Kay to the El Pollo Loco team during this time of continued strong sales and profit growth.”
Based in Costa Mesa, Calif., the El Pollo Loco chain includes nearly 400 grilled chicken restaurants in California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas and Utah.
Bogeajis is the second high-level executive addition at El Pollo Loco in recent weeks. Earlier in July, Larry Roberts was named chief financial officer.
