Tavistock Restaurants LLC has named John T. Bettin chief executive of its Upscale Collection, the company said Monday.
The company also said it will relocate the headquarters for its Upscale Collection to Orlando, Fla., coinciding with the move of Tavistock’s fast-casual concept, Freebirds World Burrito, to Austin, Texas, from Emeryville, Calif.
Bettin will oversee the Upscale Collection brands that include Abe & Louie’s, AquaKnox, Napa Valley Grille, California Cafe, Atlantic Fish, Coach Grill, ZED451, Joe’s American Bar & Grill, Blackhawk Grille, Timpano Italian Chophouse, Cafe del Rey, Taqueria Cañonita and Sapporo.
With 30 years in the industry, Bettin served most recently as chief executive of the Palm Restaurant Group and previously as president of Morton’s of Chicago. Bettin has also worked with Potbelly Sandwich Works LLC and Buca Inc.
Bettin “has the depth and breadth of experience to lead our upscale portfolio of restaurants today and to help us find new avenues of growth going forward,” Charles B. Lewis, chairman of Tavistock Restaurants, said in a statement.
Bettin said in prepared remarks: “Tavistock Restaurants has fantastic brands, is entrepreneurial and well capitalized for future growth.
“Charlie has charged me with strengthening our company, maximizing the potential of our existing brands, and tasked me to look for additional growth opportunities within Tavistock Group’s portfolio as well as outside acquisitions,” he said.
Parent company Tavistock Group is based in the Bahamas and has investments in more than 200 companies across 15 nations.
