Bloomin’ Brands Inc., parent to the Outback Steakhouse and other casual-dining chains, swung to a profit in the Sept. 29-ended third quarter. The Tampa, Fla.-based company, which went public last year, also reported Tuesday that it had opened 14 new restaurants in the quarter and acquired controlling interest in its Brazilian Outback Steakhouse joint venture, bringing its control to 90 percent.
Result: $11.3 million, or 9 cents per share
