Marco’s names Buddy Solomon new CFO

Company hopes new exec will help the chain double in size

Marco’s Pizza on Monday named Buddy Solomon the chain’s new chief financial officer.

Solomon has more than 30 years in the restaurant, media and technology industries, working in finance and accounting with Arby’s Restaurants Inc., Cox Newspapers and Cox Auto Trader.

The Toledo, Ohio-based Marco’s hopes Solomon can bring a “new approach” that helps the 700-unit pizza chain reach 1,500 locations.

“As we approach doubling in size, we remain laser-focused on striving to be the pizza brand of choice, employer of choice and partner of choice,” Marco’s Pizza President Byron Stephens said in a statement. “Reaching the next echelon requires a renewed approach. Buddy brings leadership strategies that are rooted in Marco’s cultural beliefs, while driven to increase the profitability of our franchise community.”

Solomon replaces Ken Switzer as CFO.

The new CFO has already started with Marco’s and has already made changes to compensation and benefits to improve employee satisfaction. He will also prepare Marco’s to ensure the company’s corporate finance, accounting and IT infrastructure can help the chain compete against larger pizza concepts.

“By engaging employees through a culture of accountability, companies can create systems at the speed needed to get desired team results,” Solomon said in a statement. “I will put my energies into strengthening the framework that the brand can grow around, including everything from technology to financing sources to human talent.”
