Regional quick-service chain Culver’s specializes in premium hamburgers called ButterBurgers, named for the lightly buttered buns the sandwiches are served on. Based in Prairie du Sac, Wis., the chain’s units are located in 19 states, but clustered primarily in the Midwest. Culver Franchising System Inc. is a private company established in 1987. The Culver’s chain was founded in 1984 by Craig and Lea Culver and Craig’s parents, George and Ruth.
