Burger King offers free coffee on Fridays in Nov.

Customers can get free 12-ounce cups of java during breakfast hours

In an effort to drive additional traffic in the increasingly competitive morning daypart, Burger King is offering free 12-ounce cups of coffee during breakfast hours every Friday in November.

In addition to picking up the $1 tab for breakfast coffee, Miami-based Burger King is handing out a coupon for one complimentary 22-ounce Iced Seattle’s Best Coffee, in either vanilla or mocha flavor, when patrons buy a value meal on a future visit. The iced coffee’s suggested retail price is $1.89.

Mike Kappitt, chief marketing officer for North America Burger King Corp., said the offer was made to give consumers “yet another reason to bite into breakfast at Burger King.”

The nation’s No. 2 burger chain introduced the premium coffee when it launched its expanded breakfast menu in September.

To meet the growing competition in the quick-service breakfast segment, Burger King added a ciabatta club sandwich, mini blueberry biscuits and three breakfast platters.

The nationwide coffee promotion is supported by TV advertising that stars lonely coffeehouse employees who appear to be in distress over the absence of regular customers.

Burger King owns and franchises more than 12,150 restaurants worldwide.
