DETROIT Checkers Drive-In Restaurants Inc., the double drive-thru operator based in Tampa, Fla., said it has remodeled and converted all of its Rally's outlets in the Detroit area to the Checkers brand.
The company, which is the parent of both chains, said the move to convert the company-owned and franchised Rally's in the area was part of a plan to stimulate sales growth.
Checkers Drive-In Restaurants operates or franchises more than 800 double-drive-thru units under the Checkers and Rally's brand. Checkers went private last year when it merged with a subsidiary of Taxi Holdings Corp., an affiliate of private equity firm Wellspring Capital Management LLC.
