Domino's offering cell phone ordering

News

ANN ARBOR Mich. Domino's Pizza, based here, has introduced Web-enabled cell phone ordering that allows customers to order pizza delivery from about half of the chain's 5,128 U.S. stores. An enhancement to its recent rollout of online ordering, the service will be added to additional markets as soon as possible, according to Rob Weisberg, vice president of precision and print marketing.

"With the addition of yet another order-taking channel, Domino's is thrilled to lead the market with this breakthrough technology that continues to change the way people think about ordering pizza," Weisberg said.

Web-enabled cell phone users navigate to mobile.dominos.com, enter their choice of pizza, side items and soft drink and delivery address. They also can enter their credit card information if they wish. Orders usually arrive in about 30 minutes, Weisberg said.

Domino's sources said the mobile.dominos.com interface is streamlined to make ordering easier when using cell phone and wireless Internet device display screens and keypads. The information displayed at the site automatically adjusts to accommodate the smaller and varying shaped screens of mobile devices, regardless of customers' carriers, they added.

Once on the site, consumers can enter their Domino's online ordering username and password and all orders saved on the system will carry-over to the user's mobile device. That carry-over process covers any coupons associated with the order, making re-ordering favorite pizza meals easier, Domino's said.

In addition to its domestic stores, Domino's oversees a network of more than 3,000 outlets in about 55 other countries. Global sales totaled nearly$5.1 billion last year.
